40th Annual Sports Meet

St Thomas College celebrated its 40th Annual Sports Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit. The college grounds came alive as students, faculty, gathered to witness a day filled with athletic excellence, teamwork, and vibrant performances.

The event was inaugurated with a march-past by NCC and NSS Cadets and the students of all departments. The event was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Naresh Diwan Sports Officer V.Y.T.PG College Durg. After unfurling the Sports Flag and inspecting the march-past, the Principal of the College Dr. Shiny Mendonce in her opening address, praised the participants and emphasized the importance of sports in promoting discipline, confidence, and physical well-being among students. The Chief Guest delivered an inspiring speech that became the highlight of the program. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Diwan said that sports and physical education form an integral part of holistic development and St. Thomas College provides true education that nurtures the mind body and character.

 The other dignitaries present on the event were Vice Principal Dr. James Mathew and Dean Academics Dr. Debjani Mukherjee. A variety of track and field events including 100m and 200m sprints, relay races, long jump, shot put, Discus Throw kept the audience engaged throughout the day. Departmental houses Like Lotus, Merigold, Lily and Rose competed passionately, showcasing skill, determination, and a strong sense of camaraderie. One of the highlights of the event was Tug of War which added an element of excitement and laughter to the day. At the closing ceremony, winners were awarded medals, trophies, and certificates for their outstanding performances. The Sports Day concluded with the national anthem, marking the end of a successful and memorable event. The Management, Administrator and the Principal commended the Sports Officer Mr. Kailash Verma, organizing committee, volunteers, and participants for making the program a grand success. The program was conducted by Dr. Mahendra Iker and vote of Thanks was given by Sports officer Mr. Kailash Verma.
