41st Annual Day and Cultural Festival ‘Aagam 2026’

 

The 41st Annual Day, Prize Distribution Ceremony, and Cultural Festival “Aagam 2026”was celebrated with great enthusiasm at St. Thomas College.Prof Dr. Anupama Asthana, Regional Additional Director, Durg, was invited as  the Chief Guest, while Mr. Yogesh Shastri, CGM, BSP, was present as the Special Guest. The event was also graced by the presence of Councilor Mrs. Sheela Narkhede and Councilor Mrs. Maya Yadav.

The program was presided over by the Manager Bishop of the College His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius. In his presidential address, Manager Bishop appreciated the progress of the college and expressed gratification at the institution’s growth over the years. His Grace conveyed blessings to the students and exhorted all to function as per the vision and mission of the College and achieve greater heights in the future.

The Principal, Dr. Shiny Mendonce, welcomed the guests and presented the annual report of the Ccollege, highlighting the major academic, cultural, and co curricular activities conducted during the year. The report reflected the institution’s consistent efforts toward academic excellence and holistic development of students.

The Administrator of the College, Father Dr. P. S. Varghese extended his greetings and best wishes to the gathering. During his address, he referred to a shloka from the Bhagavad Gita, recalling the guidance given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna in a moment of fear and uncertainty. He encouraged students to face challenges with courage and emphasized the importance of value based and quality education.

The Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Anupama Asthana appreciated the achievements and merits of the college and expressed happiness at witnessing its steady progress. Addressing the gathering, Guest of honor Mr. Yogesh Shastri stated that St. Thomas College has been providing valuable opportunities for students’ development. At the same time, he emphasized that students must work diligently to achieve success in life.  During the event, meritorious students who performed excellently in Academic, Sports and  Cultural activities throughout the year were honored during the prize distribution ceremony.

Following the formal proceedings, the cultural festival “Aagam 2026” commenced. Competitions such as Dance of Aagam, Face of Aagam, and Voice of Aagam were organized as part of the festive. Students showcased remarkable creativity and talent through their performances, which were widely appreciated by the audience. The cultural presentations were enjoyed by guests, faculty members, parents  and students alike. On this occasion, the College Magazine was also formally released by the guests.

The program witnessed the presence of Vice Principal Dr. James Mathew, Dean Academics Dr. Debjani Mukherjee, Program Convener Dr. Susan R. Abraham, Aagam Convenor Dr.Sapna Sharma  and Co-Convener Dr. Sheeja Varkey, along with members of the teaching and non teaching staff and a large number of students. The event concluded on a vibrant note with enthusiastic participation from students and appreciation from the guests, making the 41st Annual Day and Cultural Festival “Aagam 2026” a memorable celebration of academic achievement, talent, and creativity at St. Thomas College.
