ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION “AAGAM”

Bhilai. Always respect the place from where you get knowledge because knowledge removes darkness from within us. Durg Rural MLA Lalit Chandrakar said this as the chief guest at the annual function “AAGAM” organized at St. Thomas College on Tuesday. He further said that experience comes from gaining knowledge and practicing it continuously. Experience always plays the role of a guide and which also inspires us.
St. Thomas College In this annual function, Principal Dr. M.G. Roymon read the annual report of the college for the session 2023-24. In this, he said that the college is not only ahead in academic activities but also plays its role in sports and other social activities. In this sequence, the students of the Journalism Department of the college, in collaboration with the District Administration Durg, did the work of media monitoring in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Its Collector Ms. Richa Prakash Chaudhary had provided the certificate. Apart from this, he said that a total of 44 students of the college got a place in the merit list including 8 gold medals in the Hemchand Yadav University, Durg University examination. All these students were honored with insignia and certificates. Apart from this, students who performed well in sports, NCC, and NSS were also honored in the program. On this occasion, college employee Shakun Yadav was also honored with a shawl and insignia for completing 25 years of service in the college.
Various cultural programs and fashion shows were also organized in the annual festival ‘Aagam’. The college students participated in it with great enthusiasm. In these programs, the title of Dancing Star of ‘Aagam’ was won by Glamour of South Dance Group. The title of Voice of ‘Aagam’ was won by Nupur Sanjana and Group. The title of the winner of the fashion show Face of ‘Aagam’ (Female) was won by BA second-year student Arpita Mandal while the title of Face of ‘Aagam’ (Male) was given to Harmeet Singh Gill of BBA fourth semester.
On this occasion, Borsi councilor Sajan Joseph, councilor Sheela Narkade, and councilor Maya Yadav were also present as special guests. Hemchand Yadav University’s Registrar Bhupendra Kuldeep also presided over the program. On this occasion, St. Thomas Mission’s treasurer Rev. Father Thomas Ramban and college administrator Dr. P.S. Varghese were specially present. On this occasion, the welcome speech was given by the Dean of the college, Dr. Debjani Mukherjee. A vote of thanks was given by the program coordinator, Dr. Chanda Verma. While the program was conducted by Dr. Surekha Jawade and Dr. V. Shanti.
On this occasion, the Sociology Department of the college also organized a food fest in which the students of the college set up stalls and were allowed to taste various dishes. The coordinator of this program was Dr. Deepti Santosh. On this occasion, the professors of the college, students along their parents were also present.
