AWARENESS PROGRAM

Awareness Program on the Importance of Wearing Helmets and Seat Belts at St. Thomas College, Bhilai

Under the joint initiative of NCC, NSS, and the Hindi Department, an awareness program was organized at St. Thomas College, Bhilai, as part of “Mission 75” by MYFM to emphasize the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts.

The event was graced by the presence of College Administrator Father Dr. P. S. Varghese, Principal Dr. M. G. Roimon, Dean Dr. Devjani Mukherjee (Head of the Psychology Department), NCC Officer & Head of the Hindi Department Captain Dr. Surekha Jawade, and Lieutenant Santosh Yadav.

During the event, Father Dr. P. S. Varghese highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating that wearing helmets and seat belts is not just about following rules but a crucial measure for ensuring personal safety. He urged everyone to take a pledge to wear helmets and seat belts themselves and encourage others to do the same.

Principal Dr. M. G. Roimon also emphasized that many people ride two-wheelers without helmets and avoid wearing seat belts in four-wheelers, unaware of the severe risks involved. He stressed that while the government has mandated helmet and seat belt use, individuals should adopt these practices not out of fear of the law but for their own safety. Adhering to traffic rules is a shared responsibility to ensure both personal and public safety.

The program was conducted by Dr. Surekha Jawade, and all the students of the college attended the event, making it a successful awareness initiative.
