Awareness Programme on India’s 2047 Vision
The P.G. Department of Commerce of St. Thomas College, Bhilai, organized a youth awareness programme “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” in collaboration with Chhattisgarh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (Bhilai unit). The programme aimed to inspire the young minds to envision a bright future where India shines as a beacon of hope and progress. Dr. Sapna Sharma, Head, P.G. Department of Commerce, In her opening remarks highlighted the significance of civic education in developing citizenship competencies among the students, thereby enabling them to build a more sustainable and equitable world.
Mr. Lalit Chandrakar, MLA, Durg Gramin Constituency, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He accentuated that youth empowerment is not just about providing opportunities – it is about creating an environment where young people can thrive, contribute, and lead. Hon’ble MLA recommended that students should engage in effective time management, take ownership of their education, make well-informed decisions, and face challenges and setbacks with resilience. Mr. Ajay Bhasin, State General Secretary, Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries, underlined the importance of the youth discharging their duties towards their motherland by engaging proactively in nation building, innovation and global leadership.
Administrator Fr. Dr. P.S. Varghese in his presidential address emphasized that youngsters are not just the passive recipients of inherited traditions; rather, they possess the power to shape the nation’s destiny. Dr. Shiny Mendonce, Principal I/C, underscored the institutional commitment to investing in industry-academia synergy, which would pave the way for future innovations and workforce readiness to navigate the complexities of a fast-paced economy.
Mrs. Suman Kannauj, President, Women’s Chamber, encouraged students to practice and promote good “cyber hygiene,” to safeguard their personal data, and contribute to a safer digital landscape for their communities. The programme was led by Dr. Neelam Gandhi and Mr. Sunil Mishra and attended by students and faculty members across all the disciplines. Dr. Sheeja Varkey, Add. Head, P.G. Department of Commerce, proposed the vote of thanks.
