Community Service organized by Education Department

Education Department of St. Thomas College, Bhilai, conducted community service program, at “Ramsheela ki kutiya”, an old age home near DPS Durg, Junwani.

As a part of B.Ed curriculum, students and teaching faculty from the Department of Education visited the old age home. During the visit, the students interacted well with the inmates of the home, who shared their experiences and how they have gracefully accepted the realities of life. This initiative aimed to uplift the underprivileged section of the society while fostering a spirit of social responsibility among the young generation towards the older section of the society.

Administrator of the college, Fr. Dr. P.S Varghese and Principal, Dr. M.G Roymon expressed their appreciation for such services towards the neglected section of the society.

Administrator, Dr. P.S Varghese quoted “Manav Seva Hi Madhav Seva” and explained the importance of such services for inculcating values among the students. He also remarked that community service is an integral part of our curriculum as it not only helps the students to apply their learning into real life scenarios but also instills empathy.

The owner of the old age home, Mr. Ajay Kalyani spoke about the underprivileged section of the society. He shared his own experiences with the students to start such institution for the old age people.

Head of Department of Education Dr. Sheeja Thomas and Incharge of Community Service, Dr. Deepti Santosh, appreciated the management of the old age home for such initiative and taking good care of the inmates and thanked them on behalf of the college management for granting permission for the visit.

The students entertained everyone by presenting cultural programs like song and dance. They also provided food packets and Donations to the organisation. The whole event was fully enjoyed by the elderly and students seeked their blessings.

This program makes another milestone in St. Thomas College’s commitment to holistic education leaving a lasting impact on both students and community.
