Financial Education for Young Citizens
The PG. Department of Commerce under the aegis of Comm-Zenith the commerce association organized 10 Day Investment Awareness Program on “Financial Education for Young Citizens” in Collaboration with National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) from 24th November 2025 to 4th December 2025. This programme focused on importance of financial Investment Opportunities, investment in primary and secondary Markets, Precautions while Investing in Securities Market mutual funds, identifying and avoiding financial frauds and career in securities market. Mr. Haushang Chauhan,a securities market trainer from SEBI and resource person of NISM was the speaker for all the sessions The Inauguration of the program was held on 24th November 2025 in which Principal In- Charge Dr. Shiny Mendonce said that financial awareness Program is need of hour for our citizen. Many people are not aware of the ways how to handle finance and are trapped by the fraudulent practices.Dr. Sapna Head PG. Department of Commerce in her welcome speech gave an overview of the activities to be held during the ten day program.. Day 1and 2 started with pre-assessment Test and introduction to financial markets. Day 3&4 focused on the investment process, goal setting, risk assessment and selection of investment option. Day 5& 6 explained the functioning of secondary market, trading procedures and the role of stock exchanges and brokers. Day 7&8 Covered Mutual funds, NAV calculation, SIP risk return dynamics. Day 9 introduced gold and silver ETFS as modern convenient way to invest. The last day concluded with post assessment quiz to evaluate participants. The management of the college congratulated the department for the conduct f the program. The students opined that the certificate program proved to be informative, insightful and highly beneficial. The Valedictory session was held on 4/12/25 in which Ms. Shreya Singh of M. Com I Semester Gave a report of the activities . Mr. Ashik Kabir Gave the feedback and Ms. Simran Goswami paposed Vote of thanks.. Ms. Vidhi Vishwakarma of B. Com I Semester conducted the program. Additional Head of the commerce department Dr. Sheeja Varkey and other faculties’ of department of commerce Dr. Rincey. B Abraham, Dr. Aditi Acharya, Dr. Sunita Kshatriya and D. Neelam Gandhi coordinated in making the program a success.
