National Counseling Psychology Day

St. Thomas College, Bhilai, PG Department of Psychology organized a workshop on the occasion of National Counseling Psychology Day

The Postgraduate Department of Psychology, St. Thomas College, Bhilai, organized a workshop on counseling techniques under the aegis of Psychometrician. The session proved to be highly interactive, focusing on diverse theoretical perspectives of counseling as well as practical insights into establishing a private practice. The purpose of the session was to sensitize students to the appropriate use of techniques while handling different psychological conditions.

The resource person for the event was Ms. Versha Verma, an alumna of St. Thomas College, Bhilai. She is a Hemchand Yadav University rank holder, GATE-qualified, and is presently working with Kendriya Vidyalaya, Durg as a student Counsellor. Drawing on her academic achievements and professional experience, she introduced students to methods for overcoming resistance in the counseling process and explained how directive, non-directive, and eclectic approaches can be effectively applied for behavior modification.

College administrator Rev. Father  Dr. P. S. Varghese appreciated the initiative taken by the department, Principal-in-Charge Dr. Shiny Mendonce emphasized the importance of experiential learning opportunities for students. She highlighted that practical exposure is the key to gaining mastery in any academic discipline.

Head of the Department, Dr. Debjani Mukherjee, also shared her reflections, encouraging students to enrich their knowledge of counseling and therapeutic practices through the expertise of the invited speaker.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Aradhana, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by C.M Sofiya. The session was skillfully conducted by Dr. Ankita Deshmukh.
