National Science Day

Developing scientific understanding is the key to progress. And science exhibition is a better way to know and understand the world of science in reality. This was said by AV Manoj, GM (EM & Project) of Bhilai Steel Plant. He was speaking as the chief guest at the science exhibition ‘Science’ organized at St. Thomas College on Thursday. He further said that the school and college students participating in this competition should try to understand the practicality of science, whether they get the prize or not.
It is worth mentioning that on the occasion of National Science Day, inter school and inter college science exhibition and power point presentation competition was organized in St. Thomas College. In the PPT presentation competition at college level, K. Khushi Tiwari of Digvijay College, Rajnandgaon got the first prize. In the second prize, Umang Sahu and Armaan Mittal of R.S.R. College got the second prize. While Y. Jayendra and Gajadhar Sahu of Shankaracharya Professional University got the third prize. In college level PPT and model presentation, Tejaswi Sarva and Abhilash Chandrakar, MSc Botany, St. Thomas College, and Suman Sahu, Deepti, Dhalendra, and Neetu of Government College Nikum got the first prize. While Liman Sonwani and Avinash Kaur, BSc Final, St. Thomas College got the third prize.
On this occasion, the college administrator Dr. P.S. Varghese said in his presidential address that only a well-skilled person can build a better society. In today’s era, the biggest challenge is to use the knowledge and information scattered around us with scientific thinking for the welfare of the society. So that the student is established in the society as a good citizen. At the same time, Principal Dr. M.G. Roymon motivated all the participants and wished them good luck. While Dean Dr. Debjani Mukherjee emphasized on the overall development of the student along with the development of academic knowledge, which includes personality development, emotional development, social and technical skills development. This is the need of education today. On this occasion, Vice Principal Dr. James Mathew, program coordinator Dr. Chanda Verma, Dr. Jyoti Bakshi, Dr. Arvind Sahu along with professors and students were present in large numbers.
