Visit Water Treatment Plant and Oil Mill

The M.Sc. students of PG department of Chemistry from St. Thomas College, Bhilai, visited the Water Treatment Plant operated by Dhamtari Municipal Corporation and the PBS Oil Mill located in Arjuni village as part of an educational field trip. The visit aimed to provide handson learning experience on water treatment process and their importance in daily life. The visit was led by faculty members Dr. Chanda Verma and Dr. Arvind Sahu. During the trip, the students observed and studied the processes involved in water filtration and oil production.

The students were given a detailed explanation by Sub-Engineer Mr. Lomash Dewangan, Water Analyst Mr. Khan about the entire process about the water treatment, how canal water reaches the plant and how it is filtered and purified.

Responding to the student’s request, Mayor Mr. Ramu Rohra also visited the plant. He expressed his pleasure at the students’ interest in understanding Dhamtari’s water purification system. He informed them that the purified water from the canal is supplied to households across 40 wards of the city. He also mentioned that an additional plant is under construction nearby, and a new facility in Mujgahan is being developed to treat wastewater and rainwater, which will then be supplied for industrial use. The Mayor wished all the students a bright and successful future.

Later, the students visited the PBS Oil Mill located in Arjuni village, Dhamtari, where they were given a detailed explanation of the oil processing procedures by the management. The visit was informative and enriching, providing students with a deeper understanding of water treatment process and oil processing. The students expressed great interest and enthusiasm upon observing the operations of the factory.
