Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony and Cultural Fest “Aagam”

St. Thomas College, Bhilai celebrated the 39th Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony and Cultural FEST –Aagam in a jubilant way. The Chief Guest of the Annual Day Celebration was Dr. Aruna Palta, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Hemchand Yadav Vishwavidyalaya, and Durg. Addressing the gathering Hon’ble Vice Chancellor said that, St. Thomas College students are known in the entire region of Chhattisgarh for their outstanding performance in Curricular and Extracurricular activities. Madam applauded the efforts of the College in imparting excellent education to the students and enabling them to carve a niche for them. The Annual Day was presided by the Manager Bishop of the College, His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius. In his Presidential Address, His Grace said that St. Thomas College stands as a distinguishing institution with its rich heritage and deep rooted tradition. Enumerating the contribution and achievements of the college, His Grace said that the college lays a robust foundation for its students enabling them to confidently embrace a significant global role in the years to come. Principal of the college, Dr. M.G. Roymon extended a warm welcome to the esteemed gathering and presented the Annual Report of the College briefing the achievements and plethora of activities that took place in the academic session. Administrator of the college Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese and Rev. Fr. Aju Varghese also graced the occasion. Ms. Maya Yadav, Counsellor Ruabandha, was also present for the Annual Day Celebrations. The program was followed by prize distribution ceremony for the students who excelled in Academics, Sports, Cultural, NCC and NSS. Endowments in the form of cash prize were given to the meritorious students at UG and PG level. Rolling trophy was given to Lotus House for the best house of the Annual Sports Meet. Ms. Nupur Sanjana Dan of B. A- III was felicitated with Kalapratibha Samaan Rolling Trophy for her outstanding performance in various Cultural Events. The most exhilarating show of the day was Cultural Fest “Aagam” Students enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing Dance and Classic Fashion Show. The entire program was spectacular display of talent and fervor.  The programme was conducted by Dr. Shiny Mendonce, Dr.V Shanti and Ms. Deepti Santosh. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Sheeja Varkey.

Valedictory Programme on “Career option in Civil Services”

The Civil Services Aspirants Club of St Thomas College, Bhilai organized their Valedictory Program on ‘Career option in Civil Services’.
The Guest of Honour for the programme was Dr. Bhupendra kuldeep, Registrar, Hemchand Yadav Vishwavidyalaya, Durg (C.G).
At the outset, Principal Dr M G.Roymon welcomed all the dignitaries and aspirants to the valedictory session. In his welcome address, he congratulated the Organising Committee Members for the successful organization of the Certificate Programme and advised the aspirants to work hard with dedication and commitment to take Civil Services as their Career Option.
Rev.Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese, Diocesan Education Officer and Administrator, St. Thomas College, while addressing the students appreciated the aspirants for taking an interest in the course which will not only help them in their profession but also develop their personalities.
The Guest of Honour of the programme, Dr Bhupendra Kuldeep, addressed the participants with anecdotes, life lessons and real-life examples that he had put in his areas of expertise to achieve success.
He further emphasized that career decision is one of the most significant decisions in one’s life and therefore, it must not be taken under parents’ compulsion or peer pressure. He also advised instead of waiting for the right time, start considering every moment as the right time to achieve their goals.
Dr. Sheeja Varkey Convenor of Civil Services Aspirants Club gave a summary report of the fifteen days programme and highlighted the session with Mr. Vinay Singh, Programme Coordinator Tejas IAS Academy, Bhilai, Dr Uday Pratap Singh, Dr Dharmendra Gaur, Dr B P. Singh, Mr Sudesh Sharma, Mr Rakesh Jha, Mr Surendra Khandal and Mr Avanish Verma faculty from IAS academies.
The aspirants also shared their experience and learning of the whole programme and appreciated the support and encouragement extended by the Civil Services Aspirants Club.
The Guest Presented the Certificate of Participation to all the aspirants who have attended the certificate programme.
The Programme was conducted by Ms Deepti Santhosh Head, in charge (Department of Sociology) and a vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Shubha Diwan, Assistant Professor P.G. Department of Biotechnology.

BOOK FAIR

St. Thomas College , Bhilai has conducted a Book Fair on 9th February at the college campus . The event featured a diverse range of students academic , reference books, various literary works by renowned authors. The Fair was hosted by Central Book House , Raipur and Bhagwati Bhawani Book Depot , Durg . Staffs and students had the opportunity to explore various genres and love for reading book. The College administrator Rev . Fr. Joshi Verghese and Principal Dr. M G Roymon has supported the event make success.

Anushka Sisodiya of St. Thomas College participated in Republic Day Parade

St. Thomas College, Ruabandha Bhilai is extremely privileged and feels proud to honor NSS volunteer Anushka Sisodiya for her outstanding performance in Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi on 26th January, 2024. It is worth mentioning that there were 148 NSS girls volunteers from all over India and after the rigorous training of 26 days Anushka secured the prestigious position of Right Marker in the first row of the Parade. Apart from the parade Anushka also represented the state Chhattisgarh in cultural events.

Management & Economics Dept. Students visited ABIS Plant

Department of Management Studies and PG Department of Economics, at St. Thomas College, Ruabandha ,Bhilai visited the ABIS Plant of IB group at Rajnandgaon. It is worth mentioning that Department of Management Studies organizes such industrial visits on regular intervals to present real scenario of industry to the students. Ms. Sangeeta Sarkar, HR head, IB group provided brief overview of IB group of Companies and the fish and poultry products manufactured by them. The company is running its production units in 22 states across India. After the induction program students visited the plant in supervision of production experts and observed the complete production process of fishery and Poultry feed products. Administrator Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese congratulated both the departments for successfully organizing the visit. Principal Dr. M. G. Roymon said that St. Thomas College is always dedicated towards the overall development of students. During the visit Dr. Susan R. Abraham, Head Department of Management Studies, Dr. Aparna Ghosh, Head PG Department of Economics, Assistant Professor Mr. Mahendra Ikhar, Ms. Priyanka Ganjir, Aparna Dutta and students from both the departments were present.
