Overview
The Department was established in the year 1984 to provide quality education in commerce by providing value based education to become innovative leaders with good entrepreneur skills through integrated activities so as to meet the needs of Industry. During the 37 significant years of functioning, the department of Commerce is relentlessly striving to perceive & maintain academic excellence with its progressive & innovative outlook. Accelerating the learning curve of pupils through regular curricular & attitude building interactive sessions by experts drawn from both academia and industry, it has evolved steadily in tune with the growth-pattern of the industry and job market. The thrust is on equipping the students with business acumen, critical thinking & a pioneering spirit so that they can transcend horizons of textbooks to adapt better to the paradigm shift in the business world & gain access to multiple career opportunities. P.G Course is offered from 1999. Contemporary market relevant electives catering to diverse career options are offered at both undergraduate & postgraduate levels. Project work & paper presentations for post graduates are undertaken to give them basic experience in research. The department had MoU with Smt. Radhadevi Goenka College for Women, Akola (M.S) for two years from 2nd March 2020 and thereafter it may be renewed on mutually agreed terms.
Objective
- To provide learners with theoretical and practical knowledge in the core commerce courses as per the need of industry.
- To impart quality education through student centric teaching and learning process.
- To build the conceptual foundation in areas of commerce
- To equip the students with accounting and entrepreneurial skills
- To enhance management skills and analytical thinking for a successful career
- To develop students for professional career in accounting, finance, research and higher education
- To build life skills through value based education and service oriented programs
- Introducing innovative teaching and learning models, with a strong base of scientific research methods at all levels, by organizing Research festivals and strike a healthy and mature balance between modern and traditional values, similarly sensitizing teachers and students towards a more human approach.
- Inculcate ethical and moral values by offering a support system which is friendly and inspiring the future nation builders.
