Overview

St. Thomas College strongly believes that exposure to arts and culture is fundamental to the holistic development of the human spirit. It aids in the development of critical and creative thinking skills of the students. Literature not only preserves the rich cultural heritage that embraces the confluence of diverse religions & traditions but also boosts imagination that spurs creativity. The college aspires to provide an environment in which students can explore the world beyond textbooks with freedom of speech, dissent and discussion of significant social issues being considered vital for change and well-being of the society.

The cultural and literary cell of the college, functioning under the aegis of ‘Kalapratibha’ provides every opportunity for the students to exhibit their individuality, creativity, and talents. It conducts competitions in various arenas usually in the month of September every year for about four days to shortlist the students who will represent the institution at university, zonal and national levels.

The motto of this cell is reviving Indian folk culture, showcasing contemporary trends, and promoting artistic innovations.

Objectives

  • To provide a platform for the students wherein they can showcase their unexplored abilities, unfathomed talents, and unexpressed dreams
  • To inculcate and sustain the social and national values along with the development of various artistic skills among them
  • To develop a secular attitude among them towards the pluralistic fabric of Indian society
  • To guide them to develop their personalities so that they become the future cultural custodians
  • To increase public consciousness about the diverse cultural traditions, traditional expressions, intangible cultural heritage of India
