The Department of Microbiology & Biotechnology was started in 1989 and 2002 respectively. The M.Sc. Microbiology program was initiated in 1998 and M.Sc. Biotechnology program in 2002. The department of Microbiology was recognised and registered as research centre in 2005 and offers Ph.D. in Microbiology, while Department of Biotechnology has been registered as research centre in 2021. The department is united by a variety of researchers as faculties who are specialized in their respective domains with a common goal to provide excellence in education and research. The department maintains its mission to provide an environment that fosters continuous improvement and innovation in the subject. The department has a self-sufficient library and the departmental forum “GENESIS” holds regular guest lectures, workshops and seminars. The departmental laboratory is well equipped with various instruments for providing excellent opportunities for both academics and research. Six research scholars have been awarded with doctoral degree and 12 students are presently enrolled. Total 09 research projects have been successfully completed by different faculties of the department.
