The objective of the department is to inculcate responsibility and create interest and awareness towards nature and to pave their way for a bright future in the field of animal research and academics in Zoology. The students will appreciate the usefulness of the subject; develop curiosity, knowledge, skills and attitude, necessary to pursue further studies and research in Zoology. It is one of the many important mother sciences, and a branch of Life science, that focuses on animals and animal life..Zoology is important for many reasons. For one, the study of animals and communities provides insight into how “life” works, and, consequently, how we work. The higher mammals provide especially useful insight into the human world. Many Zoologists are directly involved with the conservation of threatened or endangered species; the maintenance of biodiversity is considered by many to be crucial to our survival. The study of zoology includes animal physiology, their behavior, and their interaction with other species in their environment. It is a course that includes the distribution of every animal species on earth including extinct animals. Apart from the animal kingdom and ecosystem, zoology also explores the new areas of research.

Zoology Association
The zoological association “Terrestria”, is aimed to provide a platform for students to perform various activities to showcase the creative talents and share their knowledge. These activities encourage the students and teachers to explore the multiple dimensions of the discipline. The department organizes seminars, workshops and guest lectures to develop an aptitude and interest in the subject domain. Activities like study tours, excursions, outreach programs and extension activities help to develop co-operative and leadership qualities in the students and also help to inculcate social responsibilities and value education. The association through various competitions like Power point presentations, quizzes, poster making etc.,offers many avenues of academic and creative expressions and help to acquaint the students with recent developments in Life science and technology.
