Inauguration of Certificate Program on Professional Business Skills
The Department of Management Studies, St. Thomas College, Bhilai in collaboration with Kalinga University, Raipur organized inaugural session of the second edition of Certificate Program on “Professional Business Skills” on 12th November, 2021. The Chief Guest of today’s program was Dr. R. Shridhar, Vice Chancellor, Kalinga University, Raipur. First of all Head of Department of Management Studies Dr. Susan R. Abraham gave the overview of certificate program and said that St. Thomas College is dedicated towards the contemporary development of students as per the changing scenario of Business World. Principal of St. Thomas College Dr. M. G. Roymon welcomed the gathering and congratulated the organizing committee for organizing an informative program. Chief Guest Dr. R. Shridhar discussed especially the present situation of COVID-19 and said that so many persons from various countries are coming to India and they are doing business as per the FDI policy of Government of India. So your appointment in any company is not just limited to Indian companies but you are going to be appointed in a multinational company and to work at global level, English Language is the most acceptable medium of communication. So accordingly an individual has to develop business skills like communication skills, preparing resume an interview skills and how to deal with a customer. These are some important areas of development and for that Business Skills are much needed. The Keynote Speaker of today’s session Dr P. B. Deshmukh said that Skill development is not just limited to business only but it is related to professional and nation development as a whole. He said that now a days the trend of professional courses are changing significantly. He emphasized on the development of life skills like Time Management, Concentration, Focus and to keep the right attitude. To learn any life skill most important is the right understanding and then to start practicing it. All the participants experienced a great learning and after the session they cleared their doubts by asking questions. Program was successfully conducted by Mr. Mahendra Ikhar and Mr. Akash Tamrakar Faculty Department of Management Studies, St. Thomas College and Mr. Mahendra Ikhar proposed vote of thanks.
