Online Interactive Session on Conservation of Biodiversity
2 day Session on Conservation of Biodiversity: Different Method and Strategies was organised by PG Department of Botany in collaboration with Covenant Centre for Development, Madurai.The department is organising a series of Online Interactive Session on Academics and Well Being of students during the pandemic. The session was conducted by Dr. Utkarsh Ghate,Director GMCL (Village Herbs) and Advisor,Centre Covenant for Development, Madurai.Dr Ghate reiterated the fact that human beings cherish almost all benefits from the biodiversity and urged to focus on taking proper care associated with the preservation of biodiversity in different forms.DrGhate discussed the world’s most comprehensive inventory of the global conservation status of plant and animal species – IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.DrGhate suggested In-situ conservation, the conservation of species in their natural habitats, is considered the most appropriate way of conserving biodiversity. Dr Ghate had a detailed interaction session with the students and dealt with their queries. Administrator Fr. GeeVargehese Rambaan and Principal Dr. MG Roymon appreciated the effort as loss of biodiversity has a significant impact on human health. This program was coordinated by Dr. Vinita Thomas and conducted by Dr. Jyoti Bakshi.
